SILENT SUNDAYS REMAINING DATES!

The series will continue on January 29, and March 19!  And, of course, with Ron Rhode at the Mighty Wurlitzer!  Single tickets are priced at $10.00 for adults,  $8.00 for students.  Children under 12 will be free.  We need 100% chapter membership support from our local people to make this season break even!  There is a website for advanced ticket sales as well as sales of the first recording of the Orpheum Wurlitzer, “Arizona Stars” featuring Ron Rhode.  It is         http://www.silentsundays.info      If you just can’t stand using a website or do not have a computer, you may order tickets and CD’s (they make great gifts for birthdays and Easter) by sending your check and a note telling Dale what you want to order payable to “VOTS” to Dale Caplin, 2333 W. Irvington Place #26, Tucson, Arizona  85746.  He loves to get mail.  All ticket and CD ‘s ordered will be mailed.

A NOTE FROM THE TREASURER:  In the December Stop Rail, the Editor (me) allowed me to mentioned that 2006 expenses will probably exceed our dues income by around $1,100.00. Thanks to some very generous folks, we have had $685.00 in extra donations to help keep us going without touching our savings account (or as I call it, our “Rainy Day Account”).  When I get another $415.00 in extra donations, I will quit “harping” on the expense subject.  I know, I know--I am a pest when it comes to funding!   I am a pest because for so many years our chapter has operated on a “shoe string” and many times wondered from where the next dollar would come. You are a good bunch of folks.  On behalf of the chapter in large and my sanity, I would like to thank those that have helped out with extra donations.  I need just a little bit more.  Dale Caplin, Treasurer.

MEMBERSHIP:  In a absence of a designated Membership Chairperson, and since I have to keep track of those that have paid dues and those that join and those that drop out and those that are National members and those that are not National members (for voting rights), I know that our current operating expenses far exceed what we are spending to operate during any given year.  To sustain our spending, we either need to drop some functions or create a way to support the functions that

we want to do.  Our 2005 President, Don Story, had it right when he said that 2005 was the year to increase membership.  The only problem with that platform was that we have stayed at just about the same membership that we had in 2004.  It seems that the our membership stays the same due to deaths or non-interest.  We need about 55 new members to sustain our spending level.  In other words, we are running about 50% short on memberships in order to support our activity level.  No contest this year.  We just need to do it.  We all have to seek out those that have enough interest in Theatre Organ preservation and presentation to join us. Membership Person by default.  Dale Caplin.
